Description

This 1961-1963 Philadelphia Eagles Bobbin' Head keepsake is of the scarce “Black face” variety first issued in that groundbreaking set. Standing approximately 6-1/2” tall, the “toes-down” doll is sporting a “00” Eagles jersey and is secured to a square papier-mâché base on which “N.F.L.” appears in raised characters. (In the prior set, “1960 Champions” was stenciled on the base of the Eagles dolls.) With luminous hues and eye-catching appeal, this one presents technically at the (VG-EX) tier, with hairline cracks and a series of surface abrasions about the face and neckline, miniature paint chips at the right front corner of the base and back of the helmet and a small gouge atop the helmet. The head still bobs affectionately, albeit slightly sideways because of wear to the included spring; the collectible is remarkably intact given its age.
