Description

To the best of our knowledge and research, although there are documented 1947 Negro League World Series tickets from Game 1 at the Polo Grounds, this is the first known example from Game 2 at Yankee Stadium. Cleveland Buckeyes shortstop Al Smith won it in the 9th with a bases-loaded single, though the New York Cubans ultimately prevailed in 6 games—becoming the first and only Cuban team to win the Negro League world title. Minnie Minoso and Ray Noble also played for the Cubans, while Quincy Trouppe, Sam Jethroe, Sad Sam Jones and Chet Brewer suited up for the Buckeyes. Measuring 6-1/4 x 2-1/2", the full ticket proof showcases impressive EX-MT preservation.
