Whereas 40,000 fans in Chicago attended the first of the two 1948 Negro League All-Star Games, only 17,000 showed up in New York two days later to see the East topple the West 6-1. Minnie Minoso, Frank Austin and George Crow were the offensive standouts, while Max Manning, Dave Barnhill and Joe Black dominated the mound. Measuring 6 x 2-3/4", this Yankee Stadium ticket is an EX-MT/NM beauty, and it carries an intriguing caveat description at bottom center: "The COLORED ALL-STAR DREAM GAME is scheduled to be played on the Night of August 24. In the event of RAIN it will be played on the night of August 25. In the event, the Yankee-Chicago game scheduled for the Night of August 23 is rained out, the game will be played on August 24, thereby postponing the All-Star Game to the Night of August 25." It is also worth noting that a similar ticket example sold at auction in 2003 for over $2,000.
