The first of thirteen All-Star game appearances and ten gold gloves for recently elected (with the highest percentage of voters in baseball history) Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. occurred during his “sophomore” season in 1990. Presented is a 1990 Game-Used Ken Griffey Jr. professional model bat. This black Louisville Slugger C271 model (30.2oz/33.5”) with a cupped barrel has been graded GU 8 by PSA/DNA and features evidence of solid use including a slight crack on the bat handle and ball marks on all parts of the barrel. The handle has been taped in an X-shaped pattern to enhance grip and the barrel reads “The Kid” in block letters. The PSA/DNA letter states (in part): “After a thorough examination of this Ken Griffey Jr. professional model bat, it is our opinion the bat is authentic and was game used by Griffey Jr. during the referenced labeling period.” A light layer of silver paint has been applied to the knob; the bat comes with a full photo LOA from PSA/DNA for game use. Also comes with a game used (moderate wear with dirt marks) Franklin size L blue batting glove signed by Griffey (“7-8”) with “Junior” printed on the Velcro wrist strap (Auction LOA from JSA for signature).
