A contemporary of Andy Jurinko, William Feldman likewise painted vintage ballparks for Bill Goff's lithography company. In 2002, Feldman's original artworks first hit the auction block, selling for as much as $3,600, and earlier this year, we had the pleasure of handling numerous signed copies of his lithos. Measuring a monumental 2-2/3 feet by 5 feet, this piece titled "Candlestick Autumn Classic" has been held in a private collection since 2002. It deftly captures Game 7 of the World Series on October 16, 1962, as Willie Mays prepares to lace a ninth-inning double—just before Willie McCovey memorably lined out to Tony Kubek, giving the Yankees another championship. Hence, Mantle, Maris and their fellow Bronx Bombers are depicted in the field. One of Feldman's finest creations, the true-to-life scene captures Candlestick Park in all its glory. Framed to slightly larger dimensions.
