Gritty tales of the gridiron are told in this hoard of vintage football press/wire photos. A veritable archive of professional and college football history, this hard hitting accumulation spans the inception of the NFL and the “leatherhead” days of the 1920s up to the dawn of the facemask era in the 1950s. Included is a fairly even split between dynamic on-field action and an array of off-field activities with HOFers, championship teams, coaches, executives and numerous star players. Condition ranges as (80% VG to EX, 20% lesser) with nearly all showing authentic provenance such professional cropping marks, editorial notations, newspaper/periodical/wire service credit stampings and assorted typed blurbs and handwritten notations. The great majority are sized at 7x9 and 8x10, with a several larger and several smaller. Also a small number have been trimmed or die-cut for publication purposes.
