Surprisingly few '26 Cardinals balls are known to exist, with fewer than a handful ever having reached the auction block. In 2006, Jesse Haines' personal example sold for over $18,000. Much of the significance here rests in the fact that 1926 marked the Cards' first-ever World Series appearance and their first of now 11 world championships. It also witnessed the heroics of 'Ol Pete Alexander (later depicted by Ronald Reagan in The Winning Team) and the unlikely tag-out of Ruth to end Game 7. This scuffed, medium-toned ONL (Heydler) ball features 24 signatures averaging "3-5" w/Alexander ("3-4"), Hornsby ("4"), Haines, Hafey, Bottomley, Southworth, O'Farrell, Flowers, H. Bell, Blades, Killefer, Williams, Douthit, Sothoron, Holm, Rhem, Sherdel, Vick, Thevenow, Warwick, L. Bell, Clough and two others. Full LOA from JSA.
