A second baseball team was slated to return to New York in 1962 at the Polo Grounds, the old stomping grounds of the New York Giants. The presented 17x11 (factory folded to 8-1/2 x 11") 1961 New York Mets Season Ticket solicitation and information sheet presents in EX-MT condition with only light peripheral wear. Of note are the facial profile pictures of National League stars including Aaron, Clemente, Koufax, Mays, Musial, Banks, Snider, Mathews and others. The obverse introduces Stengel and the staff as well as plans for a new park (Flushing Stadium); the reverse features a “Meet the Mets” photo collage with the heads of potential 1962 stars. The reverse also has a letter to the fans from team chairman M. Donald Grant and the conditions of the agreement between the New York Mets and fans that purchased Season Box and Met Lounge voucher packages. The promotional item comes from late in 1961 (or possibly the first few months of 1962) and was one of the earliest releases after the franchise’s selection in the expansion draft in October 1961.
