Advanced autograph seekers there’s a good chance you will have to go to the mattresses for this one. Presented is a Ken Williams (d.1959) signed GPC. The 1922 season saw Williams achieve baseball’s first ever “30-30” season. The St. Louis Browns left fielder recorded 37 stolen bases during this marvelous campaign to go with his league leading (39) homers. Remarkably this total was good enough to interrupt the legendary “Babe” Ruth’s reign as AL home run champion. Postmarked “6/17/41” on both sides from his hometown of Grants Pass, OR, this attractive card remains in a well-preserved state. Age appropriate toning shades from light to moderate cream, providing an authentic appearance to this important 5-1/2 x 3-1/4” card. Located between a postmark and the typed notation “A.L. Home Run Champion-1922-St. Louis”, Williams stylish fountain pen signature shows distinct (“8-9”) strength. Full photo LOA from JSA.
