A perfect companion piece to Eddie Plank's 1910 A's world championship pendant also offered in our auction, this A.L. pennant pendant also comes from the Plank family estate. Gettysburg Eddie posted a 24-12 record and 2.26 ERA in '05, then kept up a minuscule 1.59 ERA during two complete games in the World Series. His 1-1/4" diameter, 14K-gold pendant is the first '05 example we've ever seen—and among the earliest of all known league championship or world championship pendants. It showcases a raised design of crossed bats, ball, "A C" and elephant mascot. Embossed border lettering reads, "AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP ATHLETICS." Engraved on the reverse is "BLAIR & CRAWFORD PHILA 14K." NM condition. If Plank's 1910 world championship pendant is beyond your budget, this seminal showpiece from the A's inaugural A.L. pennant may be a more affordable alternative.
