The 1948 NFL Championship between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Chicago Cardinals is perhaps most famous for the fact that it was played during a blizzard which basically stalled any offense which the game might have featured. With only a handful of completed passes mixed into a ton of running plays, Steve Van Buren finally scored in the fourth quarter to give Philadelphia a 7-0 victory. That storied game is the subject of this 1948 NFL World Championship ticket stub. The Shibe Park voucher cost $5.25 (including a 41 cent city amusement tax) and presents well given its age with light creasing that does not detract from the eye appeal of the bold print on the obverse. The ticket does have four small pinholes on the left side of the ticket and features appropriate event details and the facsimile signature of Commissioner Bert Bell. The reverse has small spots of paper loss and light staining; an excellent addition to the personal inventory of any vintage football collector.
