Summoned to rule on a scandal that threatened to tarnish America’s Pastime beyond reproach, Kenesaw Mountain Landis (d.1944) was swift to ban those who compromised the integrity of baseball and presided over the game with an iron fist for 24 years. The presented Kenesaw Mountain Landis Signed Centennial FDC features a (“7-8”) potency black fountain pen autograph. The mid-grade envelope presents well given their age with light creasing and moderate residue on the reverse of the collectible. According to 1939baseball.com, this cover is of the “Postmaster Cooperstown” variation. A “3 cent” baseball centennial stamp appropriately decorates the top right corner, full photo LOA from JSA.
