The immortal Babe Ruth proved his pen stroke was as mighty as his legendary home run producing swing with this striking single-signed baseball. The Babe’s considerable (“8-9”) strength signature is highly pleasing in taking up the entire sweet spot area of a 1946-1959 OAL/Harridge ball which rates as (EX-MT). Full photo LOA from JSA. This visible from space autograph was thoughtfully covered with a thin coating of shellac, which surely is the reason it has remained so bold after seventy years of existence. The ball type and the fact that the beloved Babe departed in August of 1948, easily date this signing to a narrow period of 1946-1948 and most likely before 1948, as the autograph shows so firmly without any signs of the weakening due to illness suffered by Ruth during his final year of life. Even moderate, uneven toning of the ball’s surface does not diminish the incredible potency of this prime autograph, which is sure to please the most discerning collectors.
