Description

"Hey y'all, prepare yourself for the Rubber Band Man." Tekulve posted 3 saves in the 1979 World Series, including the final out in Game 7 against pinch hitter Pat Kelly. “I threw the ball and did not see the catch," Kent recalled. "I was so wrapped up in the game that it didn’t hit me until the ball was in the air and Omar [Moreno, Pirate center fielder] caught it. I then thought: World Championship; it’s our and nobody can take it away!” Tekulve's iconic 1970s-80s pillbox cap features his large, prominent "7" signature, along with notations in another hand of number "27" and "1979 World Champs." Best of all, there are 9 "Stargell Stars" handed out by Pops himself for Teke's accomplishments. Moderate wear, especially to the front inner band. Distinctive vinyl netting lines the cap's interior. Auction LOA from JSA.
