Description

Oft-overshadowed by his "Last Stand" in 1876, General Custer's post-Civil War years also involved a period being stationed in Kentucky from 1871 to 1873 before setting out on that fateful westward expedition. Here, Custer pays a princely sum of $73.50 to the local saddler business Thompson & Boyd. Measuring 6-3/4 x 2-3/4", the check shows a clean, impressive EX appearance (w/filing folds) and a "7" signature. It is important to note that a very similar Custer check from February 1873 sold at auction this past June for over $11,000. Encapsulated as "AUTHENTIC" by PSA/DNA. This item has a reserve (estimated value: $7,500-$10,000).
