Abe Saperstein’s Harlem Globetrotters were much more popular than the NBA in the early years of the league and Saperstein knew that he would often get first dibs on great players coming out of college, who he could afford on his larger payroll. Many NBA double or triple headers were played behind a Globetrotter opener, which was basically a guaranteed sellout. The offered 1950s Harlem Globetrotters signed basketball with (4) pennings including Josh Grider, Marques Hayes, Everett Marcell and Art Smith. The Spalding Official Sure-Flite 128 Nylon-Line Tru Bilt specimen features pennings of average (“7”) potency. The ball no longer inflates, but does present well with light to moderate use.
