In 1934 Babe Ruth traveled to Japan on a U.S. All-Star Baseball Tour. The “Sultan of Swat” was greeted by thousands of cheering Japanese fans, as his popularity and fame grew so widespread that he became known throughout the world. His Ruthian performance during the tour led to several different Japanese baseball cards being produced of Ruth over the years. Presented is a complete 1950 JCM21 53 rectangular tobacco “menko” uncut sheet of 53 cards in playing card style. Depicting Ruth as the Joker, this piece presents an amazing likeness of “The Babe” along with his name in Japanese. The set also features sixteen Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame players including Bessho, Fujimura, Kawakami (3 of Hearts), Nishizawa, Sanada and many others.
