A well-rounded man, Sonny Jurgensen appears to have also been a pugilist enthusiast. This March 21, 1960 Golden Gloves program presents in VG-EX condition with a diagonal crease and moderate spine wear on the cover off set by the vibrant colors and clear print and photograph contained throughout the publication. The program is integral for boxing collectors in that it depicts a young Cassius Clay ready to compete in the Heavyweight division as an 18-year old high-school student. Pages 8 to 11 are partially loose due to a missing staple and are home to a “Jazz Concerts” advertisement that features images of Count Basie, Sarah Vaughn, Dizzy Gillespie and Louis Armstrong. There is a light crease that folds the “Madison Square Garden 33rd annual” publication in half vertically. Signed LOA from Sonny Jurgensen attesting to the item(s) being from his personal collection.
