Football historians unearth an early NFL treasure with this 1926 Frankford Yellow Jackets program. Playing a lengthy seventeen game schedule, this long-gone “leatherhead” franchise battled to an impressive 14-1-2 record to claim the 1926 NFL Championship. A member of the NFL for just eight seasons from 1924-1931, the Yellow Jackets’ fourteen victories in 1926 set a league record for regular season wins that stood nearly six full decades, until the San Francisco 49ers went 15-1 in 1984.
Dated 12/4/26, the offered Frankford Yellow Jackets official program is a scarce survivor that shows GD-VG details with deference to the fact that it is incomplete. This weathered example has stood the test of time to remain appealing despite several significant condition issues, including considerable splitting along the spine, moderate soiling on the perimeter of the front cover, an absent page, a section of paper loss on the centerfold, surface loss at the bottom right corner of the back cover and the five leaves at center being detached but present and accounted for, while the rest of this publication is held loosely together. Though the pages are not brittle, careful handling is recommended to prevent further detachments.
The thoughtful collector has included replacement pages for the absent page and the page suffering from loss, providing the next owner with the opportunity for restoration.
