The 1932 Detroit Tigers may have finished in fifth place, nowhere near the pace of the pennant winning Yankees (107 wins), but they had their number in two series between the two team that year. That American League rivalry is the subject of this 1932 Burris Jenkins Original "Tiger By the Tail" cartoon. It shows a rampaging tiger chasing after the "Yankees" represented by a small bat boy. The 18x22 cartoon includes instructions for its production and it both makes fun of Yankee Bill Dickey's penchant for getting beaned and also lauds the slugging ability of Charlie Gehringer. The piece presents very well with only a few creases (limited to the corner) and few small spots of paper. The solid piece still features the original detail and contrast of an incredible specimen of sports art.
