Michael Jack Schmidt (as he was addressed in his 500 home run call) was the symbol of the Phillies as long as he played there, ultimately reaching 548 home runs and a Cooperstown plaque. Schmidt is the subject of this Mike Schmidt Original RG Mathews Painting. Executed on thick cardboard stock, the 22x30 piece presents well with only moderate scattered wear, mostly in the form of staining. The painting depicts Schmidt perhaps watching one of his long home runs, having just finished a might cut. The dirt and chalk lines are coming up off the bottom of the cleats of the Philly slugger; the motion is wonderfully captured by the artist, whose name appears on the bottom left corner.
