Perhaps the most overlooked part of the distinguished career of Babe Ruth was his presence as a Dodgers first base coach in 1938. Ruth was still the starring attraction of every game that he attended and had the opportunity to pass his wisdom onto a new generation. Ruth’s coaching career is captured in this 11-1/2 x 15” Babe Ruth Signed Art Brewster Cardboard Cartoon Sketch. Babe Ruth’s flawless (“9-10”) potency signature comes underneath the salutation “Sincerely” also penned in the hand of Ruth. The piece, which presents in VG condition due to minor cracking and moderate creasing, depicts Ruth in a Dodger jersey clapping his hands together; the artist logo places the setting for the piece “In th’ Bum’s Dugout” (likely meaning the piece was produced in 1938). The cartoon calls the slugger “The Greatest of Them All!” includes excellent content related to Ruth’s “Called Shot”, home-run record, coaching exploits and golf game. Comes with a full photo LOA from JSA. More on website

Other content includes: “In 1927 Babe hung up a record of 60 home runs for the rest of sluggerdom to shoot at! (Foxx, DiMaggio, Greenberg, York, Gehrig, etc.)”; “He’s a consistent 73 or 74 golfer which is plenty good golfing” and “My biggest thrill-three men on-two strikes, I called the next pitch to be a homer and it was!”
