While his Civil War roles at Fort Sumter and Gettysburg were more definitive than his alleged “invention” of baseball, Abner Doubleday will forever be linked to the National Pastime as the diamond in Cooperstown bears his name. In the former, more documented capacity, Doubleday signed this 9x11 Abner Doubleday Cut Display. The framed piece consists of Doubleday’s Perez-Steele postcard and a 3-1/2 x 1-1/2” cut with a (“9”) potency penning from the general and the inscription U.S.A. Full photo LOA from JSA.
