Description

Detailed description on our website.

Ushered in by “Hot Pants Patrol” uniforms, this Phillies treasure chest links three of the greatest seasons in team history. From the 1950 “Whiz Kids” to the dreadful 1964 “Phold” to the 1980 first ever World Series championship team, this phun collection is full of Philly favorites.

When the franchise moved from venerable Connie Mack Stadium to the new South Philly digs at Veterans Stadium, one of the ways the team sought to increase attendance was the introduction of the sorely missed Hot Pants Patrol contingent of usherettes. These attractive and gracious young ladies were a big hit, magically managing to tame ordinarily gruff Phils fans into happily drooling submission, proving that beauty does soothe the savage beast. Recall this posse of early brand ambassadors with this group of (5) official game-worn HPP uniform items, all in excellent condition with (1) hot pants jumpsuit, (2) waist-length jackets (one missing one brass button) and (2) sleeveless tunics showing authentic signs of use/soiling.

Also present are:

(1) 1950 Item: 9x7 Wire photo dated on the reverse 10/5/50 (VG-EX), this photo features a play at first with Duke Snider running into Bob Miller as Eddie Waitkus and umpire Frank Dascol look on, an Acme Newspictures blurb on the back reveals this to be the penultimate game of the season played on 9/30/50, the Phillies “Whiz Kids” squad won the next day to clinch the NL pennant for the first time since 1915 and only the second time in franchise history

(4) 1964 Items: Third Edition yearbook (EX-MT+) solid and glossy; 1964 phantom World Series program cover in stunning (NM-MT+) condition; (2) blocks of (4) phantom World Series tickets (NM-MT+, NM); “Go! Phillies Go!” 33rpm record album, sealed and presents like-new. Oh so close that year but no cigar, long-suffering Phils fans would have to wait another sixteen and have never forgotten this heart breaking season.

(1) 1980 Item: “World Champion Philadelphia Phillies” hardcover book, sealed and presents like-new. At last, after ninety-seven agonizing seasons of futility, the promised land of the Phils first WS title!

Other Phillies items: (4) c.1970s 8” identical mini-pennants with “Victor AA Phillies Day” all curled average (EX-MT)

Bonus non-Phillies items: 5/31/65 Indianapolis 500 Official Race program (VG); (139) 1975-1976 Philadelphia Atoms NASL soccer full tickets and stubs average (EX-MT to NM-MT+) with (95) full tickets, (33) stubs and (11) Hero Scholarship Fund Game
