Description

Detailed description on our website.

Revel in the adventures of do-gooder Frank Merriwell with this collection of antique publications. Offered are (45) 1899-1910 mostly different magazines with (41) issues of Tip Top Weekly; (3) All Sports Library; and (1) Frank Manley’s Weekly.

Published by Street & Smith, the Tip Top Weekly issues feature early sports fiction tales recounting the heroics of multi-sport athlete and mystery solver Frank Merriwell and others under the billing “An Ideal Publication for the American Youth”. This rousing series enjoyed a twenty-year run from 1896-1915 and proved so popular that it was continued in various iterations until 1949, including assorted radio programs, dime novels, comic strips, a brief comic book run, a film serial and a Little Big Book edition.

The other (4) magazines in this collection are made interesting by the fact that they managed to bypass copyright regulations to produce a style very similar to that of Tip Top Weekly.

Featuring a fantastic array of sports illustrations on the covers, this attractive group ranges in grades of (FR to VG) with the majority GD to VG and approximately one-third affected by varying degrees of moderate to heavy spine wear/surface loss including a dozen or so with separated/split/ragged spines, several with detached covers and a few with clipped corners at top left. All covers are present and show appealing artwork.
