Description

Two of the nation’s largest newspapers The Chicago Tribune and The New York Daily News simultaneously ran this handsome sports artwork on 6/12/66 in their Sunday editions. This top notch work features the immortal Babe Ruth in a batting pose along with golfer LLoyd Mangrum and long distance runner Don Lash. Framed and matted to overall dimensions of 13-1/2 x 17-1/2”, this exciting original piece is in excellent condition with a bright surface and bold details. Artist Len Hollreiser has located his signature in distinctive style to the right of runner Lash’s leg. Accompanying text details: Ruth’s 59 home runs in 1921; Lash’s becoming the first American to run two miles in under nine minutes while breaking the world record in 1936; and Mangrum’s victory over Byron Nelson at the U.S. Open in 1946.
