Description

Travel back in time to the days when amateurs still dominated the world of sports. A gallery of team photos is on display representing those who played for the love of the game with examples from various levels of play including college, high school, club teams, semi-pro, work squads, little league and independents. Highlights are two rare large format cabinet photos and one c.late-1800s/early-1900s football team featuring an African-America player. Given the age and nature of this antique assortment, it comes as no surprise that wear is evident throughout, however all examples are in presentable condition with plenty of display appeal including several worthy of being termed excellent. Several of the larger cabinet photo types have chewed up perimeters with bits of surface loss, but all in all this is a highly respectable and pleasing lot. All appear to have be professionally taken, nicely posed compositions and a good number have reverse side notations indicating they were taken for publication, most likely in local newspapers.
